ReSTOR®
The
ReSTOR® lens represents a significant advancement over
traditional lenses. By incorporating a highly advanced,
proprietary technology calledapodization, the AcrySof®
ReSTOR® lens offers patients a full range of vision
resulting in the highest level of spectacle freedom
demonstrated in clinical trials. The AcrySof® ReSTOR®
apodized diffractive lens structure is made up of a series
of concentric steps formed in a circular pattern. A gradual
decrease in step heights creates a smooth transition of
light between the distant, intermediate and near focal
points. This design improves image quality while minimizing
visual disturbances. As light passes thru the lens,
these concentric steps create light waves that form distinct
images as they intersect at different focal points. These
multiple points of focus enable the patient to achieve a
quality range of vision near thru distance. The
AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens can therefore provide lifestyle vision
for a majority of active patients who desire to reduce their
dependency on glasses. Clinical studies show 80% of patients
never needed to wear glasses for any activity. Results based
upon quality of life questionnaires demonstrate that
patients have the vision needed for daily tasks such as
applying make-up, shaving, reading a car dashboard or
viewing a computer screen without glasses. AcrySof®
ReSTOR® is also used in refractive lens exchange for those
patients with nearsightedness and presbyopia (the need for
reading glasses) who do not have a cataract but would like
good vision at distance and close without dependence on
glasses.
