iLASIK with Intralase®

IntraLase® is a new technology that performs the essential first step of the LASIK procedure with more precision and safety than ever before. This computer-controlled tiny beam of light creates the flap necessary to obtain access to the layer of the cornea needing to be treated by the excimer laser. By lasering at a precise depth, tiny bubbles create a uniform plane. Finally the laser makes circular passes that outline the edge of the flap. The cornea is very stable at this point. Until the surgeon lifts the flap the cornea remains intact. These factors create less risk of flap complication and repeated uniformity in flap creation.
